CONTACT LENS EXAMS & FITTINGS

Contact Lens Exams & Fittings

A contact lens exam and fitting is a series of tests and procedures that are performed by an eye care professional to determine the right type and fit of contact lenses for a patient. During the exam, the eye care professional will review the patient's medical and vision history, measure the size and shape of the patient's eyes, and test the patient's vision and eye health.

The eye care professional may also use a device called a keratometer to measure the curve of the patient's cornea, or may use a special diagnostic lens set to evaluate the patient's prescription and determine the best type of contact lenses for the patient's needs. The eye care professional may also provide the patient with instructions on how to properly insert, remove, and care for the contact lenses, as well as how to recognize and address any problems or complications that may arise.

It is important to follow the eye care professional's instructions and to have regular follow-up appointments to ensure that the contact lenses are fitting properly and to check for any potential problems or complications.
